Regina Bateson is a comparative political scientist at the University of Colorado – Boulder. She studies violence & politics, conflict, human rights, and democracy, with a focus on Guatemala. Her work has been published in the American Political Science Review, the Journal of Peace Research, and Comparative Political Studies, among other journals. In addition to her academic research, Regina previously worked at the US Embassy in Guatemala City and served as an OAS election observer in Guatemala. Today, she frequently prepares pro bono expert witness declarations for Guatemalans seeking asylum in the US.
