Alex Eleazar (they/she) is a PhD candidate interested in inequalities, identity, and international mobility. Their dissertation focuses on privileged migrants who have relocated to Guatemala, investigating how this is encouraged by digital labor economies, such as remote work, and colonial legacies in the region.

For their MA degree, Alex’s research centered on the experiences of LGBTQ+ migrants, focusing on identity formation, belonging, and transnational community ties. Alex is a first-generation college student and was a Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellow.
