I was a prosecutor in Guatemala for 18 years.
As a prosecutor I directed a work team that established the operation of illicit political-economic networks. A successful example was the “La Línea” case, which led to the sentencing of the country’s president and vice president to 16 years in prison for leading a criminal organization entrenched in customs. This managed to open the door to the discovery of the capture of State institutions, investigate more than 70 cases of grand corruption, recovery of more than 500 million quetzales in assets for the State, citizen reaction and place the fight against corruption.
