Pilar Manzi is a Ph.D. candidate in Political Science at Northwestern University. Her research focuses on the political economy of inequality in Latin America. In her dissertation, she studies the worldviews of the economic elites around poverty and inequality, their causes, and solutions. In parallel, she investigates the political economy of social policy, specifically how different groups in society engage with policy and how this can affect their redistributive preferences. Prior to Northwestern, she obtained her Bachelor in Political Science at the Universidad Católica del Uruguay and later worked as a policy analyst in international organizations, including the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) in Montevideo. Pilar has also lived for extended periods in Honduras and Nicaragua.
