Saúl León Dubón was born and raised in El Salvador. Saul studied journalism for his undergrad and is currently in the doctoral program of history at The Bass School of Arts, Humanities and Technologies. He completed his Master of Arts in Latin American Studies at UTD and is an alumnus of the Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (UGRAD) from the State Department and the Archer Program from the Texas University System. Saul’s field of study is the history of diplomacy between the United States and Central America. His academic inquiry deals with the impact of the United States’ foreign policy in Central America during the Cold War, with an interest in El Salvador. Saul focuses on the implication of U.S. foreign policy in political violence, the economy, and the overall impact on democratic institutions. In addition to history and Journalism, Saul is a former secondary education teacher and a documentary filmmaker. He resides in rural McKinney with his wife, Lisa, and their two children, Lily and Jonatan.
