I’m a Guatemalan civil and environmental engineer currently working on my doctoral dissertation at the University of Maryland. My work focuses on understanding some aspects of disaster resilience in Guatemala, such as emergency communication, information systems, sheltering, and critical infrastructure accessibility. I did my undergrad at Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala and have significant experience working in semi-urban and rural environments in Guatemala. I also worked on developing environmental justice policy in my NOAA Knauss Fellowship at the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management. I’m a current board member of the LASA Central America section.
